If our lesson for the 8th of July was a huge success, then this one we stumbled slightly. The lesson we can take from this day is, teach topics that are relevant to our students. However, this is not to say the lesson was a failure. It was a success, but it did not have the impact we hoped it would. Only one of our students really had any experience in a work environment, so as stated before, the relevancy was missing for the students.
Regardless, we moved forward with the lesson. It was workplace conversations. The lesson was intended to be functional, and there were trace elements of that. However, as stated for the week prior, we should have attempted it under more familiar circumstances.
For my own lesson, this reinforced what we learnt the week previous. Do something new using a familiar method. Try a new method using a familiar topic. We tried to do a new topic using a new method, and stumbled. However, we learned well.
We also had a lot of content. The lesson plan had more planned than we had time allotted. Our ability to plan was improved by the lesson of doing something simple in practice.
